Orioles announce that catcher Taylor Teagarden had his splint removed today. Teagarden is on the DL with a dislocated left thumb.



Nothing much to see here. Teagarden used to be considered a high end prospect, but he's never been able to get anything going in the majors. He's nothing more than a backup catcher and can be ignored in all leagues.

Update: Taylor Teagarden is likely not a candidate to be moved to the 60-day disabled list. Baltimore believes his timetable for a return is about 3-4 weeks.

Regardless, it seems unlikely that Teagarden returns to action any time soon. Teagarden owners should go take a flyer on the newly-acquired Chris Snyder.

Taylor Teagarden (dislocated thumb) will visit Dr. Brian Schofield in Florida on either Monday or Tuesday.



Luis Exposito will likely be the replacement for Teagarden and back up Matt Wieters, however, Exposito isn't worth a roster spot in most fantasy leagues. He'll be a good depth option in dynasty leagues, but that's about it.
