Update: 24-year old Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari's knee surgery this week wasn't as complex as anticipated. Gallinari was expected to miss at least half of next season, but now could return to the Denver Nuggets sooner than expected.
The Nuggets will likely have a much different look next season as they will be without Gallinari for most of the first half of the season, Andre Iguodala will likely test the free-agent market, and they are now in need of a new coach after surprisingly firing George Karl after the Nuggets set a franchise record with 57 wins last season. Danilo Gallinari's injury has been confirmed by his staff that he does have a torn ACL and is done for the season.
With Danilo Gallinari out for the season with a torn ACL expect Brewer and Wilson Chanlder to see more minutes making them both decent value options in your daily league contests, with Brewer being the better value option for the time being. And, there is a chance Anthony Randolph will be come fantasy relevant again, but he is a risky option at the moment, at least until you see him actually get decent minutes. With Gallinari out for the remainder of the season George Karl will likely turn to a mix of Wilson Chandler and Corey Brewer to fill the void. Both Brewer and Chandler have had their good (and bad) days, but until it becomes clear who is going to get the lion's share of Gallinari's minutes both should be used with mild expectations. Update: Initial exam suggests likely torn ACL for Denver's Danilo Gallinari, source tells Yahoo!
This is devastating news for the second-leading scorer on the Denver Nuggets. If this is the case his season is surely over and potentially most of next. Dont count on him for much of 2013-14. Its a shame to see this happen to such a good player. Analyst: Andrew Vigliotti View Profile
Update: Danilo Gallinari has a left knee injury and will not return. MRI scheduled for Friday.
Denver could really use Gallinari down the stretch, but they are deep enough that they can handle an injury like this. Expect Corey Brewer and Wilson Chandler to have an increase in production while Danilo is out. Analyst: SportsTradex View Profile
At the Nuggets' shootaround before the Portland game, George Karl seemed confident Danilo Gallinari would play. But a bruised left thigh kept Gallinari out for the second consecutive game. He is listed as a game-time decision for Friday. Wilson Chandler has been starting in place of Gallinari.
