Sources said the Mavericks have had preliminary discussions with Laker free agent PG Ramon Sessions, who would be a perfect fit for Dallas.

Free-agent PG Ramon Sessions has received interest from several teams. All discussions have centered around a starting spot. Mavs among those who have expressed interest, but no offer made.

Point guard Ramon Sessions will not exercise a player option to stay with the Lakers and will become a free agent.

Ramon Sessions took another hit to his sprained shoulder Wednesday, which he said "hurt bad," but he played through it and will continue to.

Lakers' Ramon Sessions has options for his future. The point guard has a player option next season for $4.6 million and could opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent, but General Manager Mitch Kupchak is not concerned when asked whether Sessions would be the Lakers' point guard next season. "Yes," Kupchak said. "That may mean he opts out. That may mean he doesn't opt out or he opts out and we re-sign him. I don't know how that's going to play out. But we were aware of that player option."

Ramon Sessions and Jordan Hill will not play on Friday for the Lakers. Both players are expected to debut on Sunday.

The Lakers have acquired Ramon Sessions from the Cavaliers for a future draft pick.
