Kerry Wood (R)–Wood struck out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning on three pitches thrown. This was Woods final game as he retired after the game and Shawn Camp will take his spot in the bullpen on the depth chart. (05/19/12)

Baltimore Orioles
(CL) Jim Johnson (R)–Recorded his 14th save of the season on Thursday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Johnson has now pitched in three consecutive games and will likely be given the day off on Friday. (05/18/12)
(SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless 11th inning. He gave up one hit while striking out one batter in place of Jim Johnson, who was off on Friday. (05/19/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Friday night retiring all four batters he faced in order. With this outing, O’Day lowered his earned-run average to 1.37 on the season and has looked great with his new team thus far. (05/19/12)
Injured–Matt Lindstrom (15-Day DL)

Boston Red Sox
(CL) Alfredo Aceves (R)–Recorded his eighth save of the season on Thursday after recording the final four outs of the game. He gave up one hit in the appearance and lowered his earned-run average to 5.29 on the season. (05/18/12)
(SU) Franklin Morales (L)– Pitched one inning of relief on Friday night giving up one run on one hit while striking out two batters. He gave up a solo-home run to Freddy Galvis in the outing, raising his earned-run average to 4.50 on the season. (05/19/12)
(MR) Matt Albers (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Friday giving up two hits and one walk while striking out two batters. Albers has been solid out of the bullpen for the Red Sox this season and has been used in all kinds of situations thus far. (05/19/12)

Chicago White Sox
(CL) Addison Reed (R)–Recorded his fourth save of the season on Friday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He gave up one hit while striking out one batter in the appearance and appears to be the closer for the foreseeable future. (05/19/12)
(SU) Matt Thornton (L)– Picked up the win on Friday afternoon despite blowing his third save of the season after giving up one hit in the seventh inning. He retired the final two batters in the inning needing only three pitches. (05/19/12)
(MR) Hector Santiago (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday in a non-save situation giving up on walk while striking out one batter. Santiago has now pitched back-to-back games and will likely be unavailable Wednesday. (05/16/12)

Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday in a non-save situation giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. He needed 17 pitches to get through the appearance after relieving Tony Sipp in the 10th inning.
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the appearance and lowered his earned-run average to 2.87 on the season. (05/19/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Took the loss on Friday after giving up one run on one walk in the eighth inning. The run was unearned, so at least his earned-run average was not affected by the short outing. (05/19/12)

Detroit Tigers
(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Valverde had a rough outing on Tuesday giving up two runs on one hits and one walk in the ninth inning. He was relieved by Octavio Dotel after recording just two outs in the inning, and Dotel went on to pick up the save. (05/16/12)
(SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday giving up one hit while striking out one batter in the outing. Benoit has been solid all season except in the WHIP category, which was raised to 1.72 after giving up another hit in this game. (05/16/12)
(MR) Octavio Dotel (R)–Picked up a spot-save on Tuesday after relieving Joe Valverde in the ninth inning. He gave up one hit but was then able to force the second batter he faced to fly out to end the game. (05/16/12)

Kansas City Royals
(CL) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Was charged with his second blown-save of the season on Wednesday after giving up two runs on four hits in the ninth inning. This was only his second blown-save of the season, so don’t think this will put his job in jeopardy. (05/17/12)
(SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday giving up one run on one hit and two walks in the seventh inning. He needed 20 pitches to force one ground ball out and one fly ball out in the appearance. (05/18/12)
(MR) Greg Holland (R)–Recorded the final out of the game on Tuesday night forcing the only batter he faced to ground out. He needed just four pitches to get the job done and has looked solid since returning from the disabled-list. (05/16/12)

Los Angeles Angels
(CL) Scott Downs (L)–Picked up his seventh hold of the season on Friday night after pithcing a 1-2-3 eighth inning. It was a bit odd that he was used in the eighth inning, but maybe the Angels wanted to guarantee his some work in the game so keep a close eye on this developing situation. (05/19/12)
(SU) Ernesto Frieri (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one walk while striking out two batters. Frieri has yet to give up an earned-run this season and has fanned 30 batters. (05/19/12)
(MR) Jordan Walden (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Thursday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He needed only seven pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out, one fly ball out and one strikeout. (05/18/12)

Minnesota Twins
(CL) Matt Capps (R)–Recorded his eighth save of the season on Thursday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance along with forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out on 10 pitches thrown. (05/18/12)
(SU) Glen Perkins (L)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Thursday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He gave up two walks while striking out one batter in the appearance, but did not let the base runners cross home plate. (05/18/12)
(MR) Brian Duensing (L)–Picked up his fourth hold of the season on Wednesday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief giving up two hits while striking out one batter. With this outing Duensing lowered his earned-run average to 1.89 on the season. (05/17/12)

New York Yankees
(CL) Rafael Soriano (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Both Soriano and David Robertson were available to pitch on Monday, so it appears that manager Joe Girardi is leaning towards Soriano to close at the moment. (05/15/12)
(SU) Boone Logan (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter while forcing two fly ball outs to close out the game. (05/19/12)
(MR) Cory Wade (R)–With the injury to David Robertson, Wade will move into the seventh inning role for the Yankees. This move up the depth chart gives Wade more value in holds leagues. (05/16/12)

(SU) Ryan Cook(R)–Picked up the win on Thursday after pitching two innings of relief giving up two walks while striking out one batter. Cook has been one of the best middle relief pitchers this season and has yet to give up an earned run. (05/18/12)
(MR) Grant Balfour (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Thursday giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Balfour has been solid since being demoted to a middle relief role, so maybe this is where he will settle in. (05/18/12)

Seattle Mariners
(CL) Brandon League (R)–Took the loss and his third blown-save of the season on Thursday after giving up two runs on two hits and three walks in the 11th inning. He retired only one batter in the appearance and needed 26 pitches to do so. (05/18/12)
(SU) Tom Wilhelmsen (R)– Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday striking out both batters he faced in the appearance. He needing only nine pitches to get the job done and now has four strikeouts in his last two innings of work. (05/18/12)
(MR) Lucas Luetge (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Luetge has yet to give up an earned-run this season and has been a solid fill-in for George Sherrill who is still out with an injury. (05/18/12)

(SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Picked up his ninth hold of the season on Wednesday retiring all three batters he faced in order in the eighth inning. He recorded one strikeout while forcing one fly ball out and one ground ball out. (05/17/12)
(MR) J.P. Howell (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Friday night giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter. The run came via a home run and Howell has now pitched back-to-back games so he will likely be off on Saturday. (05/19/12)

(CL) Joe Nathan (R)–Recorded his ninth save of the season on Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out one batter. Nathan ahs now pitched three straight days, so a day off is likely on Saturday. (05/19/12)
(SU) Mike Adams (R)– Took the loss on Thursday after giving up one run on three hits in the 10th inning. Adams only recorded one out in the appearance before being replaced by Robbie Ross to finish out the inning after failing to get the job done. (05/18/12)
(MR) Alexi Ogando (R)–Ogando was charged with his second blown-save of the season on Thursday after giving up one run on one hit and one walk in two innings of relief. With this outing Ogando is still sitting on a great earned-run average at 0.82 on the season. (05/18/12)

Toronto Blue Jays
(CL) Casey Janssen (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Thursday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out one batter. Janssen is now 3-for-3 in save opportunities in the absence of Sergio Santos. (05/18/12)
(SU) Jason Frasor (R)–Picked up his sixth hold of the season on Thursday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning striking out one batter. He needed 15 pitches to get through the inning forcing two ground ball outs to go along with his one strikeout. (05/18/12)
(MR) Francisco Cordero (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one walk in the outing. Since losing the closer role, Cordero has put together three straight solid outing, so maybe he just doesn’t have what it takes to close games anymore. (05/19/12)

Arizona Diamondbacks
(CL) J.J. Putz (R)–Recorded his eighth save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out two batters. Putz has been up and down this season, but hasn’t given up a run in his last three appearances. (05/19/12)
(SU) David Hernandez (R)–Was charged with his third blown-save of the season on Thursday after allowing three runs on two hits and three walks in the eighth inning. Only one run was earned so his earned-run average didn’t take too much of a hit in this appearance. (05/18/12)
(MR) Brad Ziegler (R)–Ziegler was charged with his second blown-save of the season on Friday night but walked away with the win. He is now 3-1 on the season and is currently sporting a 1.50 earned-run average. (05/19/12)

(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning needing only eight pitches. He retired all three batters he faced in order forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs. (05/19/12)
(SU) Jonny Venters (L)–Picked up hit seventh hold of the season on Friday despite giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter. The run was unearned, but in his last two appearances three runners have crossed home plate while he was on the mound. (05/19/12)
(MR) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Sunday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief. He gave up three hits in the appearance, but recorded four strikeouts in his efforts. (05/14/12)

(CL)Rafael Dolis (R)–Dolis took the loss on Tuesday after giving up one run on two hits in the ninth inning. He failed to make it through the inning, giving up a game-winning hit to Yadier Molina with two outs and it now looks like Dolis may be in danger of losing save chances to James Russell after a rough stretch. (SU) James Russell (L)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Friday giving up only one walk in the outing. With this appearance Russell lowered his earned-run average to 1.06 on the season. (05/19/12)

(MR) Jose Arrenondo (R)–Arrenondo struck out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning on six pitches thrown. He has now struck out four batters in his last 2.1 innings of relief and has 24 strikeouts on the season. (05/19/12)

Colorado Rockies
(CL) Rafael Betancourt (R)– Took the loss on Thursday after giving up two runs on two this in the ninth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance, but gave up a home run to Justin Upton which ended up being the dagger. (05/18/12)
(SU) Matt Belisle (R)–Picked up his fourth hold of the season on Thursday despite giving up one run on four hits in one inning of relief. He needed 28 pitches to get through the outing and all three of his outs were fly ball outs. (05/18/12)
(MR) Rex Brothers (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Thursday giving up four runs on two hits and two walks on 27 pitches thrown. In his three appearances Brothers has now given up five earned-runs in just 1.2 innings of relief. (05/18/12)

Houston Astros
(CL)Brett Myers (R)–Myers took the loss on Tuesday afternoon after giving up a game-winning home run to Hunter Pence in the 10th inning. Myers has now has two straight bad appearances, so hopefully he will be able to bounce back in the near future. (05/16/12)
(SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Tuesday giving up two hits while striking out one batter. He needed 28 pitches to get through the outing and lowered his earned-run average to 1.88 in his efforts. (05/16/12)
(MR)Wilton Lopez (R)– Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Thursday giving up one walk while striking out one batter in the appearance. Lopez needed only 19 pitches to four five outs, with three being ground ball outs. (05/18/12)

Los Angeles Dodgers
(CL) Kenley Jansen (R)–Picked up the win on Friday night despite being charged with his second blown-save of the season after giving up a game-tying home run to Lance Berkman in the ninth inning. Despite the home run, Jansen looked great striking out three batters. (05/19/12)
(SU) Javy Guerra (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday giving up one walk in the outing. He threw 11 pitches in the appearance but only four pitches when over for strikes. (05/17/12)
(MR) Josh Lindblom (R)–Picked up his ninth hold of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He allowed two base runners, but struck out three batters on 31 pitches thrown. (05/19/12)
Injured–Matt Guerrier (15-Day DL)

Miami Marlins
(CL) Heath Bell (R)– Recorded his fourth save on Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning needing only 10 pitches to get through the outing. Bell now has back-to-back solid outings and appears to have turned the corner. (05/19/12)
(SU) Edward Mujica (R)– Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Mujica has now pitched in back-to-back games and will likely be off on Thursday. (05/17/12)
(MR) Steve Cishek (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Wednesday giving up three hits in the outing. This wasn’t a good appearance by Cishek, but at least he escaped unharmed despite loading the bases. (05/17/12)

Milwaukee Brewers
(CL) John Axford (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit in the outing. Axford has just six saves on the season and hasn’t looked as dominant as he did last season. (05/19/12)
(SU) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Monday night giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter. The run was unearned, but gave the Mets a big enough cushion to win the game. (05/15/12)
(MR) Kameron Loe (R)–Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Thursday giving up one hit while striking out two batters. This was his first outing since Sunday, so expect him to be available for the weekend series against the Twins. (05/18/12)

New York Mets
(CL) Frank Francisco (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation giving up one hit and one walk in the outing. This was a no-pressure situation and he still allowed base runners, so it doesn’t appear like he is getting better anytime soon. (05/18/12)
(SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Thursday giving up one hit while striking out two batters. He needed 14 pitches to get through the appearance, which was a nice rebound from his last outing on Wednesday when he took the loss and blown-save. (05/18/12)
(MR) Tim Byrdak (L)-Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Wednesday forcing the only batter he faced to fly out in the ninth inning. He relieved Jon Rauch after he gave up three runs and was able to get the job done. (05/17/12)

Philadelphia Phillies
(CL) Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Papelbon has now pitched in back-to-back games, but he only pitched enough to get the final out on Thursday so he should be good to go for Saturday. (05/19/12)
(SU) Chad Qualls (R)–Qualls picked up his eighth hold of the season on Friday despite giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter in the eighth inning. After a great start to the season Qualls has started to slip a bit, but as least he is still get holds for his owners. (05/19/12)
(MR) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Picked up his ninth hold of the season on Friday night after forcing the only batter he faced in the eighth inning to ground out. He threw just five pitches in the appearance with two going over for strikes. (05/19/12)

Pittsburgh Pirates
(CL) Joel Hanrahan (R)–Recorded his eighth save of the season on Thursday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Hanrahan has been solid all season and is one of the better closers in the National League.

(SU) Mitchell Boggs (R)–Boggs took the loss on Monday night after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in two innings of relief. Only one run was earned and he picked up two strikeouts in his efforts. (05/15/12)
(MR) Fernando Salas (R)–Pitched 2.2 innings of relief on Saturday giving up one walk while striking out four batters. This was a solid outing form Salas, but he needed 41 pitches to get the job done, so a day off on Sunday in expected. (05/13/12)

(CL) Henry Rodriguez (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Monday night after recording one out in the ninth inning. He allowed three base runners on three walks and was removed for Sean Burnett. Rodriguez has been struggling as of late and maybe his job isn’t as safe as it appears. (05/15/12)
(SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season on Monday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance and lowered his earned-run average to 3.38 on the season. (05/15/12)
(MR) Sean Burnett (L)–Recorded his first save of the season on Monday night after relieving Henry Rodriguez after he loaded the bases. Burnett forced two ground outs to end the game and may be in line for more save chances if Rodriguez continues to struggle. (05/15/12)
