Rafael Soriano (R)–Recorded his 32nd save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Soriano made it interesting after allowing two hits and one walk in the appearance, but he was able to get the job done by striking out one batter while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out on 28 pitches thrown.

American League

Baltimore Orioles
(CL) Jim Johnson (R)–Recorded his 39th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Johnson looked great in this appearance needing only 12 pitches to forcing one ground ball out while striking out two batters to close out the game. (08/25/12)
(SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night giving up eon walk while striking out two batters on 20 pitches thrown. With this appearance Strop lowered his earned-run average to 1.43 on the season. (08/25/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Friday night giving up a hit to the only batter he faced in the seventh inning. This marks the second straight appearance in which he failed to record an out and he will need to turn things around to keep up his role in the Orioles bullpen. (08/25/12)

Boston Red Sox
(CL) Alfredo Aceves (R)–Took the loss and was charged with his seventh blown-save of the season on Thursday night after surrendering five runs on six hits and one walk in the ninth inning. This was a terrible outing from Aceves and with Anderw Bailey back in the mix his job is not as safe as it once was. (08/24/12)
(SU) Andrew Bailey (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Friday night after retiring the last four batters in the game. This was Bailey’s fist shot at closing this season, but as of now Alfredo Aceves is still the team’s closer. (08/25/12)
(MR) Vicente Padilla (R)–Picked up his 21st hold of the season on Friday night after pitching 0.1 innings of relief. He gave up one hit while striking out one batter on nine pitches thrown lowering his earned-run average to 4.32 on the season. (08/25/12)

Chicago White Sox
(CL) Addison Reed (R)–Picked up the win despite being charged with his fourth blown-save on Friday night after surrendering three runs in the ninth inning. This was a rough outing for Reed, but at least he was able to walk away with the win. (08/25/12)
(SU) Brett Myers (R)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Wednesday night after forcing the only batter that he faced in the eighth inning to ground out on three pitches. Myers has now pitched back-to-back days but with a day off on Thursday he should be ready to go for Friday. (08/23/12)
(MR) Matt Thornton (L)– Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/25/12)

Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He needed 15 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs. (08/25/12)
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Took the loss on Wednesday after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. Despite the rough outing from Pestano he is still sitting on a 1.83 earned-run average on the season. (08/23/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Friday night giving up one hit in the outing. With this appearance Sipp lowered his earned-run average to 4.64 on the season bouncing back from a bad outing on Monday. (08/25/12)

(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Recorded his 25th save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 13 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two fly ball outs to get the job done. (08/23/12)
(SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Picked up the win on Thursday afternoon after retiring the final two batters of the 11th inning. He needed only 10 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (08/24/12)
(MR) Phil Coke (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Thursday afternoon striking out the only batter that he faced on six pitches thrown. With this appearance Coke lowered his earned-run average to 3.75 on the season. (08/24/12)

(MR) Scott Downs (L)–Picked up his 19th hold of the season on Friday night after pitching 0.2 innings of relief. He retired both batters he faced in order via ground balls and has now pitched back-to-back days so don’t expect to see him used on Saturday. (08/25/12)

(CL) Glen Perkins (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday giving up just one hit in the outing. He needed 13 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs in his first outing since last Sunday. (08/23/12)
(CL) Jared Burton (R)–Took the loss on Thursday night after giving up six runs on three hits and two walks in 0.2 innings of relief. Only one of the six runs was earned, but this is still an appearance that Burton will want to forget. (08/24/12)

(MR) Jordan Norberto (L)–Picked up the win on Friday night after pitching 1.2 innings of relief striking out two batters. With this appearance Noberto improved to 4-1 on the season with a 2.77 earned-run average. (08/18/12)

Seattle Mariners
