National League

Arizona Diamondbacks
(CL) J.J. Putz (R)– Took the loss and blew his first save of the season on Saturday after giving up two runs on one hit in the ninth inning. The dagger was a home run by Todd Helton with two outs in the inning, but Putz should be able to look past this outing and move forward. (4/15/12)
(SU) David Hernandez (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Two of his outs were by strikeout, while the other was a ground ball out. (4/17/12)
(MR) Brad Ziegler (R)–Ziegler pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday in a non-save situation giving up one walk while striking out one batter. He needed 20 pitches to get through the appearance and will likely be unavailable on Tuesday after pitching on back-to-back days. (4/17/12)
Injured–Takashi Saito (15-Day DL)

Atlanta Braves
(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Recorded his fourth save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He did allow three base runners which isn’t like him, but he was able to get out of the inning without any damage. (4/15/12)
(SU) Jonny Venters (L)– Picked up his third hold of the season on Saturday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief giving up two hits while striking out one batter. After a quiet first week, Venters has now been used four times this week and has recorded either a hold or a win in all his outings. (4/15/12)
(MR) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday night in a non-save situation giving up just one hit in the outing. He needed just 10 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs. (4/18/12)

Chicago Cubs
(CL) Carlos Marmol (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday in a non-save situation striking out two batters in the outing. After a dismal start to the season, Marmol has put together two solid appearances racking up four strikeouts in two innings of work while allowing just one walk. (4/14/12)
(SU) Kerry Wood (R)–Wood faced just one batter on Friday needing just two pitches to force a ground ball out. Like Marmol, Wood has pitched well in his last two appearances, but he is still going to have to prove he can be consistent before he is fantasy relevant in holds leagues. (4/14/12)
(MR) James Russell (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday giving up one hit and one walk in the appearance. This was his longest appearance out of his last three, but he still hasn’t been used in a hold situation this season. (4/18/12)

Cincinnati Reds
(CL) Sean Marshall (L)–Marshall recorded his first save of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless 11th inning. He allowed two base runners, but was able to get out of the jam to convert his first save as the Reds closer. (4/16/12)
(SU) Aroldis Chapman (L)–Pitched two innings of relief on Sunday striking out four batters in the outing. Chapman has been a strikeout machine early this season and at this pace he is going to be one of the best relievers in all of baseball, and can still become the team’s closer if Sean Marshall was to falter. (4/16/12)
(MR) Jose Arrenondo (R)–Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning. Arrenondo did not allow a base runner in this outing, but it has been issue for him early this season. (4/16/12)
Injured–Ryan Madson (out for season), Nick Masset (15-Day DL)

Colorado Rockies
(CL) Rafael Betancourt (R)– Recorded his third save of the season on Tuesday night despite giving up one run on three hits. The one run came via a Nick Hundley home run, but that was Betancourt’s first earned-run of the season, so don’t look too much into it. (4/18/12)
(SU) Matt Belisle (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Saturday giving up one run on one hit in the outing. Belisle has yet to giving up an earned-run this season and has looked sharp in his last two appearances. (4/15/12)
(MR) Rex Brothers (L)–Picked up his second hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He gave up one walk while striking out one batter on 10 pitches thrown in the appearance. (4/18/12)

Houston Astros
(CL))Brett Myers (R)– Recorded his second save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning striking out two batters in the outing. A save was not in the cards until Heath Bell’s meltdown in the top-half of the inning, but either way fantasy owners will take it. (4/15/12)
(SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Monday giving up three hits and one walk while striking out two batters. This was his longest outing of the season and despite the base runners it was a quality outing. (4/17/12)
(MR)Wilton Lopez (R)– Was charged with a blown-save on Sunday after giving up one run on four hits in 2.2 innings of work. Lopez has now pitched at least two innings in each of his last three outings and has likely settled into his role for the foreseeable future. (4/16/12)

Los Angeles Dodgers
(CL) Javy Guerra (R)–Guerra was charged with his first blown-save of the season on Tuesday night after giving up two runs on two hits and one walk in the ninth inning. He recorded just one out before taking the loss, which was also his first of the season (4/18/12)
(SU) Kenley Jansen (R)–Picked up his second hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He struck out two batters in the appearance and did not allow a base runner. (4/18/12)
(MR) Todd Coffey (R)–Coffey failed to record an out on Friday night after giving up two runs on two hits in the seventh inning. This was his second appearance in a row in which he failed to record an out, so his role in the Dodgers bullpen is likely in jeopardy. (4/14/12)

Miami Marlins
(CL) Heath Bell (R)– Recorded his first save of the season on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Bell has looked rough through the first couple of weeks of the season, but this should hopefully right the ship and start pushing him in the right direction. (4/18/12)
(SU) Edward Mujica (R)– Picked up his third hold of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He retired all three batters he faced in order while recording one strikeout. (4/15/12)
(MR) Steve Cishek (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning of relief. He has been a pleasant surprise this season for those in holds leagues, and he should start to become more universally owned as he continues to be used in significant situations. (4/18/12)

Milwaukee Brewers
(CL) John Axford (R)–recorded just one out in his appearance on Sunday giving up two runs on one hit and two walks. Only one of the runs was earned, but this clearly was not a good outing by Axford. (4/16/12)
(SU) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Rodriguez had his second straight bad outing on Tuesday giving up two runs on two hits in one inning of relief. This is just a rough patch for Rodriguez right now, but like he has shown in the past, he will be able to bounce back. (4/18/12)
(MR) Kameron Loe (R)– Pitched two innings of scoreless relief on Friday giving up two hits while striking out two batters. He has now pitched two innings in each of his last two appearances and looks to have established his role in the Brewers bullpen. (4/14/12)

New York Mets
(CL) Frank Francisco (R)–Francisco made an appearance on Friday in a non-save situation giving up one unearned run on one hit and three strikeouts. He has yet to give up an earned run this season as he continues to be a surprise closer in fantasy this season. (4/14/12)
(SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday giving up just one hit in the appearance. Rauch continues to impress since joining the Mets and has yet to give up an earned run this season. (4/17/12)
(MR) Ramon Ramirez (R)–Ramirez had yet another rough outing on Tuesday night giving up two runs on two hits and one walk in two innings of relief. He has now given up five earned runs in his last three appearances combined and will likely to get a day off on Wednesday to clear his head. (4/18/12)

Philadelphia Phillies
(CL) Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Monday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. Papelbon looked sharp in this appearance throwing first pitch strikes to three of the four hitters that he faced while forcing two ground ball outs to one fly ball out, which is what you want to see. (4/17/12)
(SU) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Saturday striking out the only two batters that he faced. This was just his first appearance since last Sunday, but as the season progresses and the Phillies are in more tight games his usage will increase significantly. (4/15/12)
(MR) Chad Qualls (R)–Picked up his second hold of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up just one hit in the outing. He needed just eight pitches to get through the appearance and has yet to give up an earned run this season. (4/16/12)

Pittsburgh Pirates
(CL) Joel Hanrahan (R)–Hanrahan was not available out of the Pirates bullpen on Tuesday night due to tightness in his hamstring. In his absence teammate Juan Cruz picked up the save, but it was nothing more that a spot-save so fantasy owners should not worry too much about this as it appears to be a minor injury.
(SU) Chris Resop (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Monday giving up one run on three hits while striking out two batters. This was a much better outing than his previous one in which he failed to record an out, but it still wasn’t anything to write home about. (4/17/12)
(MR) Evan Meek (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless seventh inning. This was a much better outing for Meek, who has been struggling this season, and hopefully this outing means he is starting to turn the corner. (4/18/12)
Injured–Chris Leroux (60-Day DL)

San Diego Padres
(CL) Huston Street (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday giving up one hit while striking out two batters. This was Street’s first appearance in a week and it is starting to appear as if his save chances will be limited. (4/18/12)
(SU) Andrew Cashner (R)–Cashner pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday but did give up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. The base runners will eventually turn into an issue for Cashner, but for now he has been able to work in and out of trouble so no need to worry just yet. (4/17/12)
(MR) Luke Gregerson (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Tuesday giving up two hits while striking out one batter. Gregerson has yet to give up a run his season and if he keeps up this pace he could turn into a solid contributor in deep holds leagues. (4/18/12)

San Francisco Giants
(CL) Santiago Casilla (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up just one hit in the outing. This was the first time the Giants needed a closer since Brian Wilson’s injury, but if you are a Casilla owner this was definitely nice to see. (4/18/12)
(CL) Sergio Romo (R)– Picked up his second hold of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He retired all three batters he faced in order and still have a scoreless innings streak going to start the season. (4/18/12)
(CL) Javy Lopez (L)–Picked up the win on Saturday after facing just one batter in the ninth inning. Lopez will likely get a few looks as the closer this season, so his fantasy value has now increased significantly. (4/15/12)
(MR) Jeremy Affeldt (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday in a non-save situation striking out one batter in the appearance. Despite his ability to close out games his name is not in the mix to receive save chances with Brian Wilson out for the season. (4/17/12)
Injured–Brian Wilson (out for season)

St. Louis Cardinals
(CL) Jason Motte (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning giving up one hit while striking out two batters. This was his third consecutive solid outing and he has recorded three strikeouts to go along with zero walks in that span. (4/18/12)
(SU) Kyle McClellan (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Sunday giving up one run on two hits in the outing. McClellan has not looked sharp through the first two weeks of the season, but as the season progresses he should start to settle into his new role. (4/16/12)
(MR) Fernando Salas (R)– Salas struck out the only batter that he faced on Tuesday on four pitched. He was used in the ninth inning and was received by closer Jason Motte, who picked up the win. (4/18/12)

Washington Nationals
(CL) Henry Rodriguez (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Monday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. The Nationals decided to go with Rodriguez over Brad Lidge in the ninth inning in this matchup, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it is Rodriguez’s job to lose at this point. (4/17/12)
(CL) Brad Lidge (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. Last night it was Henry Rodriguez and tonight it was Lidge, so at this point it is still a closer by committee and it appears it will stay that way for the foreseeable future. (4/18/12)
(SU) Tyler Clippard (R)-Picked up his third hold of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. This was a much better outing compared to his outing last Sunday when he gave up three runs on four hits, so it appears he was able to get over that outing relatively easy. (4/18/12)
Injured– Drew Storen (15-Day DL)
