It was nice to see him be able to get in and out of a jam, which is something you don’t see too often out of young pitchers against the Yankees. (05/16/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–O’Day struck out the only batter he faced on Monday night on six pitches in the ninth inning. With this outing O’Day lowered his earned-run average to 1.56 on the season. (05/15/12)

(MR) Hector Santiago (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday in a non-save situation giving up on walk while striking out one batter. Santiago has now pitched back-to-back games and will likely be unavailable Wednesday. (05/16/12)
Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season on Monday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He needed only 12 pitches to get through the outing and recorded one strikeout. (05/15/12)
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Picked up his ninth hold of the season on Monday despite giving up two runs on one hit and one walk in the eighth inning. He was removed after getting the first two outs of the inning, but still did enough to earn a hold. (05/15/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Pitched two innings of relief on Friday night giving up two this and two walks while striking out three batters. Sipp has now pitched on back-to-back days and will likely be unavailable on Saturday. (05/12/12)
Detroit Tigers
(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Valverde had a rough outing on Tuesday giving up two runs on one hits and one walk in the ninth inning. He was relieved by Octavio Dotel after recording just two outs in the inning, and Dotel went on to pick up the save. (05/16/12)
(SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday giving up one hit while striking out one batter in the outing. Benoit has been solid all season except in the WHIP category, which was raised to 1.72 after giving up another hit in this game. (05/16/12)
(MR) Octavio Dotel (R)–Picked up a spot-save on Tuesday after relieving Joe Valverde in the ninth inning. He gave up one hit but was then able to force the second batter he faced to fly out to end the game. (05/16/12)
Kansas City Royals
(CL) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Recorded his eighth save of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. He gave up one hit in the outing while striking out two batters and has now pitched in back-to-back games. (05/15/12)
(SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday night retiring all three batters he faced in order on nine pitches thrown. He struck out one batter and forced two fly ball outs in the appearance. (05/16/12)
(MR) Greg Holland (R)–Recorded the final out of the game on Tuesday night forcing the only batter he faced to ground out. He needed just four pitches to get the job done and has looked solid since returning from the disabled-list. (05/16/12)

(SU) Ernesto Frieri (R)–Frieri recorded the final out of Tuesday’s game striking out the only batter he faced on four pitches. He has been great since coming over from the Padres a few weeks back, and would likely get the save chances ahead of Jordan Walden if Downs was to falter. (05/16/12)
(MR) Jordan Walden (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday night in a non-save situation giving up one walk in the outing. He faced just four batters in the outing, forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs. (05/15/12)

Minnesota Twins
(CL) Matt Capps (R)–Took the loss on Monday night after giving up one run on two hits in the ninth inning. Capps now falls to 0-2 on the season, but has yet to be charged with a blown-save through the early portion of the season. (05/15/12)
(SU) Glen Perkins (L)–Picked up his fourth hold of the season on Sunday after forcing the only two batters he faced to ground out in the eighth inning. Perkins had a rough start to the season, but has been pitching well as of late and is worth owning in holds leagues. (05/14/12)
(MR) Brian Duensing (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday giving up just one hit in the outing. Duensing has been a solid for the majority of the season and is now sporting a 2.04 earned-run average. (05/16/12)
New York Yankees
(CL) Rafael Soriano (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Both Soriano and David Robertson were available to pitch on Monday, so it appears that manager Joe Girardi is leaning towards Soriano to close at the moment. (05/15/12)
(SU) Boone Logan (R)–Picked up his third hold of the season on Monday after striking out three batters over the seventh and the eighth inning. Logan had been solid so far this season and now has nine strikeouts in his last three innings of relief. (05/15/12)
(MR) Cory Wade (R)–With the injury to David Robertson, Wade will move into the seventh inning role for the Yankees. This move up the depth chart gives Wade more value in holds leagues. (05/16/12)

(SU) Ryan Cook(R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out one batter in the outing. Cook continues an incredible start to the season and has yet to give up a run this season. (05/15/12)
(MR) Grant Balfour (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Monday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. He picked up one strikeout in the appearance and has looked good since being demoted from the closer role. (05/15/12)

(SU) Tom Wilhelmsen (R)– Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday giving up one run on two hits while striking out one batter. After a good start to the season Wilhelmsen has fallen off a bit as of late, but is still a solid contributor in holds and strikeouts. (05/16/12)
(MR) Lucas Luetge (L)–Picked up his third hold of the season on Sunday after striking out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning. Luetge has yet to give up an earned-run this season and should continue to be used in hold situations for the foreseeable future. (05/14/12)

(CL) Fernando Rodney (R)–Recorded his 11th save of the season on Tuesday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning picking up two strikeouts. Rodney continued his unbelievable start on Tuesday and now has a 0.51 earned-run average on the season. (05/16/12)
(SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He retired all three batters he faced in order, forcing three fly ball outs on 10 pitches. (05/16/12)
(MR) J.P. Howell (L)–Pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning on Monday night forcing one ground ball and one fly ball out to go along with one strikeout on 13 pitched thrown. With this outing Howell lowered his earned-run average to 2.08 on the season. (05/15/12)

(MR) Francisco Cordero (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Monday night giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Cordero has looked better since being demoted from the closer role, so maybe he has turned the corner. (05/15/12)

(MR) Brad Ziegler (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit and one walk in the outing. He needed 15 pitches to get through the outing and forced three ground ball outs. (05/13/12)

(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday in a non-save situation allowing two walks in the appearance. Kimbrel has been solid so far in 2012, but compared to last season he is giving up more base runners, which will become a problem if that trend continues. (05/16/12)

(MR) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Picked up his fifth hold of the season on Sunday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief. He gave up three hits in the appearance, but recorded four strikeouts in his efforts. (05/14/12)
Chicago Cubs
(CL)Rafael Dolis (R)–Dolis took the loss on Tuesday after giving up one run on two hits in the ninth inning. He failed to make it through the inning, giving up a game-winning hit to Yadier Molina with two outs and it now looks like Dolis may be in danger of losing save chances to James Russell after a rough stretch. (05/16/12)
(SU) James Russell (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday giving up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one batter. Russell gave up a home run to Matt Carpenter in the eighth inning, but even after this outing he still has a 1.17 earned-run average on the season. (05/16/12)
(MR) Kerry Wood (R)–Wood was charged with his second blown-save of the season on Tuesday after giving up one run on one hit and two walks in the seventh inning. He hasn’t looked good since returning from the disabled-list, so even in holds leagues he shouldn’t be owned. (05/16/12)

(CL) Sean Marshall (L)–Recorded his sixth save of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Marshall has now pitched two consecutive days and may be given a day off on Tuesday. (05/15/12)
(SU) Aroldis Chapman (L)–Picked up his fourth hold of the season on Monday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief. He gave up one walk while striking out one batter to extend his scoreless innings streak to 18.1 innings. (05/15/12)
(MR) Jose Arrenondo (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday in a non-save situation striking out two batters. Arrenondo retired all three batters he face din order on 16 pitches thrown. (05/16/12)

(SU) Matt Belisle (R)–Belisle was charged with his second blown-save of the season on Tuesday after giving up one hit in 0.2 innings of relief. It wasn’t a bad outing for Belisle, but in baseball standards, it was a blown-save. (05/16/12)
(MR) Rex Brothers (L)–Picked up the win on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He gave up three walks in the appearance, but was able to get out of the jam by forcing two strikeouts and one ground ball out. (05/16/12)
Houston Astros
(CL)Brett Myers (R)–Myers took the loss on Tuesday afternoon after giving up a game-winning home run to Hunter Pence in the 10th inning. Myers has now has two straight bad appearances, so hopefully he will be able to bounce back in the near future. (05/16/12)
(SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Tuesday giving up two hits while striking out one batter. He needed 28 pitches to get through the outing and lowered his earned-run average to 1.88 in his efforts. (05/16/12)
(MR)Wilton Lopez (R)– Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Monday night giving up one hit in the outing. He threw just four pitches in the appearance but was able to get through the sixth inning unharmed. (05/15/12)
Los Angeles Dodgers
(CL) Kenley Jansen (R)–Recorded his fourth save of the season on Monday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Jansen has settled in well in the closer role for the Dodgers and has lowered his earned-run average to 2.29 on the season. (05/15/12)
(SU) Javy Guerra (R)–Pitched a scoreless fifth inning on Tuesday night giving up one hit and one walk in the outing. Once again Guerra allowed base runners, which was the main reason he lost his closer role, but at least he was able to get out of the jam. (05/16/12)
(MR) Josh Lindblom (R)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season on Monday night despite giving up one run on one hit in the eighth inning. The run came via a home run, but Lindblom was able to battle through it to keep the Dodger lead. (05/15/12)

Miami Marlins
(CL) Heath Bell (R)– Picked up the win on Sunday despite giving up two runs on two hits and two walks in the ninth inning. Bell has been struggling all season, but the Marlins are sticking with him in the closer role, at least for now.(05/14/12)
(SU) Edward Mujica (R)– Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He threw just nine pitches in the appearance forcing three fly ball outs in the appearance. (05/16/12)
(MR) Steve Cishek (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. He needed only 12 pitches to get through the outing forcing two fly ball outs and one strikeout. (05/15/12)
Milwaukee Brewers
(CL) John Axford (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out two batters. This was a nice outing from Axford, after two bad outing in which he gave up a combined three earned-runs in 1.2 innings of relief, so hopefully this outing rights the ship. (05/16/12)
(SU) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Monday night giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter. The run was unearned, but gave the Mets a big enough cushion to win the game. (05/15/12)
(MR) Kameron Loe (R)–Took the loss on Sunday after giving up one run on one hit in the seventh inning. The run was unearned but since he was on the mound when the runner crossed home he gets the loss despite not pitching that bad. (05/14/12)
New York Mets
(CL) Frank Francisco (R)–Recorded his ninth save of the season on Monday night despite giving up one run on two hits and one walk in the ninth inning. Francisco has now pitched back-to-back days so expect Jon Rauch to get the call if the Mets are in a save situation on Tuesday. (05/15/12)
(SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning on Sunday afternoon picking up one strikeout in his efforts. With the recent struggles of Frank Francisco, it appears that Rauch may be getting the call soon to take over the closer role. (05/14/12)
(MR) Tim Byrdak (L)-Picked up his ninth hold of the season on Monday night after forcing the only batter he faced to ground out in the eighth inning. Byrdak continues to be used to face only one hitter, but in great situations, so he is turning into a must own in holds leagues. (05/15/12)
Philadelphia Phillies
(CL) Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out three batters. Papelbon has now pitched three consecutive days and will likely be unavailable on Tuesday. (05/15/12)
(SU) Chad Qualls (R)–Qualls was charged with his fourth blown-save of the season on Tuesday after surrendering two runs on four hits in 0.2 innings of relief. This was Qualls chance for a spot-save with Jonathan Papelbon unavailable, but the former closer couldn’t convert. (05/16/12)
(MR) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Picked up his seventh hold of the season on Monday night after recording two outs in the eighth inning. With this outing Bastardo lowered his earned-run average to 1.64 on the season. (05/15/12)

(SU) Andrew Cashner (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out one batter. He needed 16 pitches to close out the game and lowered his earned-run average to 3.24 in his efforts. (05/16/12)
(MR) Luke Gregerson (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Monday night giving up two runs on two hits. Both hits Gregerson gave up were home runs, which is something you don’t normally see from him. (05/15/12)

(CL) Santiago Casilla (R)–Was charged with the loss on Tuesday night after giving up a home run to Marco Scutaro in the ninth inning. He only recorded two outs in the ninth inning before being replaced by Javier Lopez and has now pitched in back-to-back games, so expect a day off for Casilla on Wednesday. (05/16/12)
(SU) Sergio Romo (R)–Picked up the win on Monday after striking out the only batter he faced in the eighth inning on five pitches. Romo now goes to 2-0 on the season and has yet to give up an earned-run. (05/15/12)
(MR) Javier Lopez (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Tuesday forcing the only batter he faced to ground out in the ninth inning. Lopez has been solid out of the Giants bullpen as a lefty-specialist and is currently sporting a 1.17 earned-run average. (05/16/12)

St. Louis Cardinals
(CL) Jason Motte (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday despite blowing his second save of the season after surrendering a game-tying home run to Alfonso Soriano in the ninth inning. The Cardinals would later take the lead and win the game, which turned a bad outing into a good one for Motte owners. (05/16/12)
(SU) Mitchell Boggs (R)–Boggs took the loss on Monday night after surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in two innings of relief. Only one run was earned and he picked up two strikeouts in his efforts. (05/15/12)
(MR) Fernando Salas (R)–Pitched 2.2 innings of relief on Saturday giving up one walk while striking out four batters. This was a solid outing form Salas, but he needed 41 pitches to get the job done, so a day off on Sunday in expected. (05/13/12)
Washington Nationals
(CL) Henry Rodriguez (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Monday night after recording one out in the ninth inning. He allowed three base runners on three walks and was removed for Sean Burnett. Rodriguez has been struggling as of late and maybe his job isn’t as safe as it appears. (05/15/12)
(SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season on Monday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance and lowered his earned-run average to 3.38 on the season. (05/15/12)
(MR) Sean Burnett (L)–Recorded his first save of the season on Monday night after relieving Henry Rodriguez after he loaded the bases. Burnett forced two ground outs to end the game and may be in line for more save chances if Rodriguez continues to struggle. (05/15/12)
