Santiago Casilla (R)–Recorded his 24th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. Casilla has hit a bit of a rough patch over the last few weeks, but he appears to have a solid hold on the closer role moving forward.

American League

Baltimore Orioles
(CL) Jim Johnson (R)–Recorded his 29th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit in the outing. Johnson needed 15 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to get the job done. (07/22/12)
(SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Picked up his 16th hold of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. Strop forced three ground ball outs in the appearance on 14 pitches thrown lowering his earned-run average to 1.47 on the season. (07/22/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Thursday giving up a walk to the only batter that he faced in the eighth inning. He threw 10 pitches in the appearance with six pitches going over for strikes. (07/20/12)

Boston Red Sox
(CL) Alfredo Aceves (R)–Picked up the win on Thursday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up two hits. With this appearance Aceves improves to 1-6 on the season with a 3.97 earned-run average. (07/20/12)
(SU) Vicente Padilla (R)–Pitches a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday giving up one hit while striking out two batters. With this appearance Padilla lowered his earned-run average to 3.60 on the season. (07/22/12)
(MR) Mark Melancon (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Friday night giving up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out one batter. He tosses 32 pitches in the appearance forcing three ground ball outs to go along with his strikeout. (07/21/12)
Injured–Andrew Bailey (60-Day DL)

Chicago White Sox
(CL) Addison Reed (R)–Was charged with his third blown-save of the season on Thursday after giving up a walk-off home run to Cody Ross in the ninth inning. He threw just three pitches in the appearance and will look to put this one behind him in his next time out. (07/20/12)
(SU) Matt Thornton (L)– Took the loss on Thursday after giving up two runs on two hits in 0.1 innings of relief. He was charged with two runs that scored off of a Cody Ross three-run home run which raised his earned-run average to 3.86 on the season. (07/20/12)
(MR) Brett Myers (R)–Recorded his 19th save of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. He needed only 12 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two ground ball outs to go along with his strikeout. (07/17/12)

Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out three batters. This was Perez’s first appearance since Monday so expect him to be available for the rest of the weekend. (07/21/12)
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. With this appearance Pestano lowered his earned-run average to 1.56 on the season while raising his strikeout total to 51. (07/22/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Saturday giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Sipp has now pitched back-to-back days so don’t expect to see him take the mound on Sunday. (07/22/12)

Detroit Tigers
(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Recorded his 18th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He needed only  12 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three fly ball outs to get the job done. (07/21/12)
(SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation striking out one batter in the appearance. Benoit needed 10 pitches to get through the appearance forcing two ground ball outs to go along with his strikeout. (07/22/12)
(MR) Phil Coke (L)–Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Saturday giving up two walks in the outing. He allowed a few base runners but was able to work out of the jam by forcing four ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (07/15/12)

Kansas City Royals
(CL) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Took the loss on Friday night after giving up one run on two hits in the 11th inning. With this appearance Broxton falls to 1-2 on the season with a 2.34 earned-run average. (07/21/12)
(SU) Greg Holland (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Friday giving up one hit while striking out four batters. He needed 28 pitches to get through the appearance with 22 pitches going over for strikes. (07/21/12)

(CL) Scott Downs (L)–Picked up his 16th hold of the season on Sunday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief giving up one hit and two walks in the outing. Downs was removed after loading the bases, but escaped unharmed after Kevin Jepsen cleaned up the mess forcing Alex Rodriguez to pop-out to end the game. (07/16/12)
(MR) Kevin Jepsen (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night giving up one hit while striking out one batter. With this appearance Jepsen lowered his earned-run average to 3.09 on the season. (07/21/12)

Minnesota Twins
(CL) Glen Perkins (L)–Recorded his fifth save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless 11th inning giving up one hit in the outing. This was Perkins’ first save since Matt Capps went on the disabled-list, but is expected to split the save chances with Jared Burton. (07/21/12)
(CL) Jared Burton (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 11 pitches to get through the appearance forcing three ground ball outs to get the job done. (07/21/12)
(MR) Alex Burnett (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Saturday giving up one hit in the appearance. With this appearance Burnett lowered his earned-run average to 3.11 on the season. (07/22/12)

New York Yankees
(CL) Rafael Soriano (R)–Recorded his 24th save of the season on Tuesday night after retiring the final two batters of the ninth inning. The inning did not start out as a save situation, but Soriano entered after Chad Qualls and Clay Rapada couldn’t get the job done. (07/18/12)
(SU) David Robertson (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. With this appearance Robertson lowered his earned-run average to 2.28 on the season. (07/21/12)
(MR) Boone Logan (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Saturday needing only four pitches to get through the appearance. Logan has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely be unavailable on Sunday. (07/22/12)

(CL) Ryan Cook(R)–Picked up the win on Friday night despite being charged with his fourth blown-save after giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter in the ninth inning. He gave up a home run to Robinson Cano to tie up the game to lead off the inning, but was able to retire the next three batters he faced. (07/21/12)
(SU) Grant Balfour (R)–Picked up his 12th hold of the season on Thursday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He retired all three batters he faced in order striking out one batter while forcing two ground ball outs. (07/20/12)
(MR) Jordan Norberto (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday night giving up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. The run came via a Josh Hamilton solo-home run in the eighth inning, but Noberto was able to bounce back to get out of the inning. (07/18/12)
Injured–Joey Devine (15-Day DL)

Seattle Mariners
(CL) Tom Wilhelmsen (R)–Recorded his ninth save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out two batters. Wilhemlsen has now pitched back-to-back days and may get a day off on Sunday. (07/22/12)
(SU) Brandon League (R)–Picked up his fourth hold of the season on Saturday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief. He forced both batters that he faced to ground out on eight pitches thrown. (07/22/12)
(MR) Lucas Luetge (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Friday giving up one walk while striking out one batter. Luetge has now pitched back-to-back games and may be given a day off on Saturday. (07/21/12)

(MR) Joel Peralta (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday striking out all three batters he faced on 14 pitches thrown. With this appearance Peralta lowered his earned-run average to 4.26 on the season. (07/22/12)

Texas Rangers
(CL) Joe Nathan (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation giving up one hit in the outing. With this appearance Nathan lowered his earned-run average to 2.11 on the season. (07/22/12)

(SU) Jason Frasor (R)– Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Monday surrendering two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Frasor gave up a grand slam to Raul Ibanez in the eighth inning but was only charged with two of the runs after Aaron Loup was charged with the other two. (07/17/12)

(MR) Bryan Shaw (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Friday night giving up three runs on three hits while striking out three batters. Luckily for Shaw the Diamondbacks had a huge lead, or else this could have been a lot worse of a situation. (07/21/12)

Atlanta Braves
(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Was charged with his second blown-save of the season on Friday night after giving up one run on one hit while striking out one batter in the ninth inning. The blow came via a Danny Espinosa home run with one out in the inning, but Kimbrel was able to bounce back from it and get through the inning. (07/21/12)
(SU) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Picked up the win on Friday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning giving up one hit in the outing. With this appearance O’Flaherty improved to 2-0 on the season with a 2.80 earned-run average. (07/21/12)
(MR) Jonny Venters (L)–Venters was activated from the disabled-list on Saturday prior to the start of the team’s doubleheader. If he is available in holds leagues, he should be targeted to help out in that category. (07/22/12)

Chicago Cubs
(CL) Carlos Marmol (R)–Recorded his 11th save of the season on Thursday despite giving up one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. He struck out two batters in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out on 26 pitches thrown. (07/20/12)
(SU) James Russell (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Saturday surrendering six runs on four hits and two walks. This outing raised Russell’s earned-run average to 3.63 on the season in what was his worst outing this year. (07/22/12)
(MR) Shawn Camp (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Wednesday giving up one hit in the outing. The game was called due to rain, so if that didn’t happen Camp would have stayed in the game to face more batters. (07/19/12)

Houston Astros

(CL) Heath Bell (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Bell got himself into a jam, but was able to get out of it to escape unharmed. (07/22/12)
(CL) Mike Dunn (L)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Friday night giving up one hit and one walk while striking out two batters. He needed 23 pitches to get through the appearance with only 11 pitches going over for strikes. (07/21/12)

Milwaukee Brewers
(CL) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Wednesday despite giving up one run on one hit and three walks while striking out two batters in the ninth inning. This was not the best showing from Rodriguez, but at least he was able to escape with only giving up one run. (07/19/12)
(MR) John Axford (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Saturday giving up one walk in the outing. He needed 12 pitches to get through the outing forcing a ground ball out to get the job done. (07/22/12)
(MR) Kameron Loe (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. This was Loe’s first appearance since Monday so expect him to be available for the remainder if this weekend’s series with the Reds. (07/21/12)

New York Mets

(SU) Mitchell Boggs (R)–Picked up his 14th hold of the season on Friday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief giving up one hit. He was used to get eh first two outs of the eighth inning before being relieved by Marc Rzepzynski, who was brought in to face a left-handed batter. (07/21/12)
(MR) Marc Rzepczynski (L)–Picked up his 12th hold of the season on Friday night after striking out the only batter he faced on six pitches thrown. This was his first outing since Sunday, so expect him to be available for the remainder of the series with the Cubs. (07/21/12)

Washington Nationals
