Tom Wilhelmsen (R)–Recorded his sixth save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out the get the job done. (06/27/12)
(SU) Brandon League (R)–Was charged with his fifth blown-save of the season on Tuesday night after giving up two hits in the seventh inning. He didn’t pitch all that bad, but based on MLB-scoring he blew a save.

American League

Baltimore Orioles
(CL) Jim Johnson (R)–Recorded his 22nd save of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. With this appearance Johnson lowered his earned-run average to 1.10 on the season. (06/25/12)
(SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching 0.1 innings of relief giving up one hit on four pitches thrown. He was used to get the final out of the eighth inning, which put him in line for the win. (06/25/12)
(MR) Darren O’Day (R)–Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Saturday giving up one walk in the outing. This was O’Day’s first appearance since last Sunday, but the time off did not affect his performance. (06/24/12)
Injured–Matt Lindstrom (15-Day DL)

Boston Red Sox
(CL) Alfredo Aceves (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He threw 12 pitches in the appearance forcing three fly ball outs. (06/27/12)
(SU) Vicente Padilla (R)–Picked up his 17th hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out two batters in the appearance while lowering is earned-run average to 3.86 on the season. (06/27/12)
(MR) Mark Melancon (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Melancon has looked good since returning to the Red Sox bullpen and has given up just one run in that span. (06/25/12)
Injured–Andrew Bailey (60-Day DL), Bobby Jenks (60-Day DL)

Chicago White Sox
(CL) Addison Reed (R)–Recorded his 10th save of the season on Tuesday night despite giving up two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out two batters in the ninth inning. Reed had been solid in his last few outings prior to this one, so hopefully he can put this behind him. (06/27/12)
(SU) Matt Thornton (L)– Picked up his 12th hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out one batter in the outing while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (06/27/12)
(MR) Hector Santiago (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Monday night giving up one run on two hits and two walks. Santiago just didn’t look good in this contest and was lucky that he only gave up one run after allowing four base runners. (06/26/12)

Cleveland Indians
(CL) Chris Perez (R)–Recorded his 23rd save of the season on Friday night after striking out the side on 13 pitches in the ninth inning. Perez has now struck out six batters in his last three innings of relief, which is what you want to see out of your closer. (06/23/12)
(SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Picked up his 18th hold of the season on Friday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. With this appearance Pestano lowered his earned-run average to 1.86 on the season. (06/23/12)
(MR) Tony Sipp (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday night giving up one run on one hit. The run came via a Alex Rodriguez home run in the seventh inning, which raised his earned-run average to 6.66 on the season. (06/27/12)

Detroit Tigers
(CL) Jose Valverde (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. This was his first appearance since June 15 and it appears he is over his wrist injury so get him back in your fantasy lineups. (06/27/12)
(SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Monday night giving up one hit while striking out one batter. He threw 30 pitches in the appearance with 22 going over for strikes while lowering his earned-run average to 1.85 on the season. (06/26/12)
(MR) Phil Coke (L)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Saturday giving up one run on three hits. Coke had been pitching well as of late, so this is not what you want to see if you own him in a holds league. (06/24/12)

Kansas City Royals
(CL) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Recorded his 18th save of the season on Wednesday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up two hits while striking out one batter. With this outing Broxton lowered his earned-run average to 1.57 on the season, which ranks him amongst the best closers in the American League. (06/21/12)
(SU) Greg Holland (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Saturday surrendering two runs on three hits while striking out one batter. He needed 27 pitches to get through the appearance and just didn’t have his stuff in this game. (06/24/12)
(MR) Aaron Crow (R)–Picked up his 12th hold of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out two batters in the appearance while lowered his earned-run average to 2.70 on the season. (06/27/12)
Injured–Joakim Soria (out for season)

Los Angeles Angels
(CL) Ernesto Frieri (R)– Recorded his ninth save of the season on Sunday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. He struck out two batters in the appearance and now has 56 strikeouts on the season. (06/25/12)
(SU) Scott Downs (L)–Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching a scoreless inning of relief giving up one walk while striking out one batter. With this appearance Downs lowered his earned-run average to 0.36 on the season. (06/25/12)
(MR) Jordan Walden (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday night in a non-save situation giving up one walk while striking out two batters. This was his first appearance since last Wednesday as it appears this is the type of situations he will be used in moving forward. (06/27/12)

Minnesota Twins
(CL) Glen Perkins (L)–Picked up his 10th hold of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Jared Burton was given the save chance for the second night in a row, so maybe the Twins are leaning towards him over Perkins in the ninth inning role. (06/26/12)
(CL) Jared Burton (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Monday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk in the outing. Burton was used in the ninth inning for the second night in a row and maybe has the upper hand on Glenn Perkins to close games for the Twins. (06/26/12)
(MR)–Alex Burnett (R)–With Matt Capps likely headed to the disabled list, Burnett will move up in the depth chart and could have some sneaky value in holds leagues. Just wait and see how he will be used before claiming him off the waiver wire. (06/25/12)
Injured–Matt Capps (15-Day DL)

New York Yankees
(CL) Rafael Soriano (R)–Recorded his 16th save of the season on Tuesday night after retiring the final batter of the game on two pitches. Cory Wade gave up four runs in the beginning of the inning which made it a save situation, and Soriano entered and got the job done quick. (06/27/12)
(SU) David Robertson (R)–Picked up his sixth hold of the season on Sunday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Since returning from the disabled list Robertson has looked good, but it is highly unlikely he takes back the closer role. (06/25/12)
(MR) Boone Logan (R)–Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief retiring all four batters he faced in order. He struck out two batters in the appearance while lowering his earned-run average to 2.60 on the season. (06/25/12)
Injured–Mariano Rivera (out for the season)

Oakland Athletics
(CL) Ryan Cook(R)–Recorded his fifth save of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out two batters. Cook had a rough outing a few nights ago, but rebounded nicely in this contest. (06/26/12)
(SU) Grant Balfour (R)–Picked up his seventh hold of the season on Monday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning striking out one batter. Balfour has really settled down in the eighth inning role, and has become a solid contributor for holds leagues as of late. (06/26/12)
(MR) Brian Fuentes (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Saturday surrendering three runs on two hits and three walks. Fuentes has fallen apart at the seams since losing the closer role, and it would be surprising if he ends up being removed from the bullpen all together with another outing like this one. (06/24/12)
Injured–Joey Devine (15-Day DL)

Seattle Mariners

(SU) J.P. Howell (L)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Tuesday night giving up just one hit in the appearance. With this outing Howell lowered his earned-run average to 4.81 on the season. (06/27/12)
(MR) Jake McGee (L)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season in Game 1 of Sunday’s doubleheader after forcing the only batter he faced in the eighth inning to fly out. He threw just three pitches in the outing. (06/25/12)

(CL) Joe Nathan (R)–Recorded his 17th save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He struck out two batters in the appearance while lowering his earned-run average to 1.99 on the season. (06/27/12)
(SU) Mike Adams (R)–Picked up his 13th hold of the season on Tuesday despite giving up one run on one hit and one walk in the eighth inning. Adams isn’t the pitcher he was last season, but at least he is still racking up the holds for his owners. (06/27/12)
(MR) Robbie Ross (L)–Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Sunday giving up two hits and one walk while striking out one batter. With this appearance Ross lowered his earned-run average to 1.13 on the season. (06/25/12)
Injured–Koji Uehara (15-Day DL)

Toronto Blue Jays
(CL) Casey Janssen (R)–Recorded his eighth save of the season on Monday night after striking out the side in the ninth inning. Janssen has now struck out six batters in his last three innings of relief. (06/26/12)
(SU) Jason Frasor (R)– Was charged his with third blown-save of the season on Tuesday night after giving up one run on one hit in the seventh inning. The run came via a Jarrod Saltalamacchia home run with no one on, which raised his earned-run average to 4.03 on the season. (06/27/12)
(MR) Francisco Cordero (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Monday night giving up one hit in the outing. He has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely get the day off on Tuesday. (06/26/12)

National League

Arizona Diamondbacks
(CL) J.J. Putz (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation giving up one hit and one walk while striking out two batters. He has now pitched in back-to-back games, but with a day off on Monday he will be ready to go for Tuesday’s game against the Braves. (06/25/12)
(SU) David Hernandez (R)–Recorded his second save of the season on Friday night after pitching 1.1 innings of relief retiring all four batters he faced in order. He enter the game with the bases loaded in the eighth inning and was able to get out of the jam and then went back out for the ninth inning, but J.J. Putz is still the team’s closer. (06/23/12)
(MR) Bryan Shaw (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday night giving up two hits while striking out one batter. He threw just nine pitches in the outing and has now pitched back-to-back days. (06/24/12)
Injured–Takashi Saito (15-Day DL)

Atlanta Braves
(CL) Craig Kimbrel (R)–Recorded his 21st save of the season on Friday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out one batter. Kimbrel has been on fire as of late, and has now converted 13 straight save chances. (06/23/12)
(SU) Jonny Venters (L)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Saturday giving up one hit while striking out one batter. He threw just nine pitches in the outing, which was his first since Wednesday. (06/24/12)
(MR) Eric O’Flaherty (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday giving up one hit in the outing. He needed only nine pitches to get the job done forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (06/25/12)

Chicago Cubs
(CL) Carlos Marmol (R)–Recorded his fifth save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out two batters. Marmol allowed just one base runner in this contest, which is good for Marmol, but it is only a matter of time before he blows up ones again. (06/27/12)
(SU) James Russell (L)–Picked up his seventh hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief giving up one hit while striking out one batter. With this appearance Russell lowered his earned-run average to 2.52 on the season. (06/27/12)
(MR) Shawn Camp (R)–Picked up his sixth hold of the season on Tuesday night after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. He gave up just one hit in the appearance on 23 pitches with 14 going over for strikes. (06/27/12)

Cincinnati Reds
(CL) Aroldis Chapman (L)–Recorded his ninth save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out three batters. This was a much better showing from Chapman than his most recent outings, so hopefully he will be moving forward and forgetting those outings. (06/27/12)
(SU) Sean Marshall (L)–Picked up the win on Tuesday after retiring the final batter of the eighth inning on four pitches. He forced the only batter he faced to fly out, which gave him a cheap win. (06/27/12)
(MR) Jose Arrenondo (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He forced two ground ball outs and one fly ball out on 15 pitches thrown, lowering his earned-run average to 1.99 on the season. (06/24/12)
Injured–Ryan Madson (out for season), Nick Masset (15-Day DL)

Colorado Rockies
(CL) Rafael Betancourt (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season on Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning striking out one batter. He allowed two base runners via hits, but was able to work out of the jam on his way to pick up the save. (06/26/12)
(SU) Matt Belisle (R)–Picked up his ninth hold of the season on Monday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. With this appearance Belisle lowered his earned-run average to 2.03 on the season. (06/26/12)
(MR) Matt Reynolds (L)–Pitched two innings of relief on Tuesday night giving up two hits while striking out two batters. With this appearance Reynolds lowered his earned-run average to 3.38 on the season. (06/27/12)

Houston Astros
(CL)Brett Myers (R)–Recorded his 17th save of the season on Tuesday night after forcing the final two outs of the ninth inning. The inning turned into a save situation once David Carpenter gave up two runs, then Myers entered and was able to clean up his mess. (06/27/12)
(SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Took the loss on Monday after giving up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter in the 10th inning. Lyon threw 26 pitches in the appearance and just didn’t have his stuff in this contest. (06/26/12)
(MR) David Carpenter (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Tuesday night giving up two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Carpenter has now given up three runs in his last two appearances. (06/27/12)
Injured–Wilton Lopez (15-Day DL)

Los Angeles Dodgers
(CL) Kenley Jansen (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in his efforts while forcing two ground ball outs. (06/24/12)
(SU) Scott Elbert (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday night giving up one walk while striking out two batters. He needed 23 pitches to get through the appearance with 13 going over for strikes. (06/26/12)
(MR) Josh Lindblom (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Tuesday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. This was a much better showing that his previous outing when he gave up two runs, so hopefully he turned the corner. (06/27/12)
Injured–Matt Guerrier (15-Day DL), Javy Guerra (15-Day DL)

Miami Marlins
(CL) Heath Bell (R)–Had a terrible outing on Monday night surrendering four runs on three hits and one walk in the ninth inning. Bell had been pitching well as of late, but then reverted back to what he was doing in the beginning of the season in this contest, so hopefully he can rebound from this. (06/26/12)
(SU) Edward Mujica (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Tuesday night giving up one walk while striking out one batter. He has now pitched back-to-back games and will likely be unavailable on Wednesday. (06/27/12)
(MR) Steve Cishek (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Monday night giving up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. The run was not earned, so his earned-run average stays at 2.61 after this appearance. (06/26/12)

Milwaukee Brewers
(CL) John Axford (R)–Took the loss on Tuesday night after giving up a game-winning home run to Drew Stubbs in the eighth inning. Axford have looked awful as of late, and the Brewers are starting to lose patience with their closer. (06/27/12)
(SU) Francisco Rodriguez (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Sunday striking out both batters he faced on 13 pitches thrown. This was Rodriguez’s first outing since June 19 and he looked sharp. (06/25/12)
(MR) Kameron Loe (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Monday night giving up one run on two hits while striking out one batter. With this appearance Loe raised his earned-run average to 3.55 on the season. (06/26/12)

New York Mets
(CL) Bobby Parnell (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the outing in his first appearance as the Mets closer. (06/25/12)
(SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Monday night giving up four runs on one walk while striking out one batter. All of the runs were unearned, but once again Rauch did not look good on the mound. (06/26/12)
(MR) Miguel Batista (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Tuesday night giving up one hit in the outing. He finished out the bottom of the eighth inning by forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (06/27/12)
Injured– Frank Francisco (15-Day DL)

Philadelphia Phillies
(CL) Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Recorded his 18th save of the season on Tuesday night despite giving up one run on one hit while striking out two batters in the ninth inning. He served up a home run to Michael McKenry in the top of the ninth inning which made it a 5-4 game, but was able to get out of jam without any more damage. (06/27/12)
(SU) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Picked up his 15th hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one hit while striking out one batter. Andrew McCutchen lead off the inning with a double off the left field wall, but Bastardo was able to retire the next three batters to get out of the jam. (06/27/12)
(MR) Chad Qualls (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday night in a non-save situation giving up one hit in the outing. He needed 19 pitches to get through the appearance with 13 going over for strikes. (06/26/12)
Injured–David Herndon (15-Day DL)

Pittsburgh Pirates
(CL) Joel Hanrahan (R)–Recorded his 19th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit and one walk while striking out one batter. Hanrahan has now pitched in back-to-back games and may be given a day off on Sunday. (06/24/12)
(SU) Jason Grilli (R)–Picked up his 17th hold of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. He struck out two batters in his efforts while lowering his earned-run average to 1.88 on the season. (06/24/12)
(MR) Juan Cruz (R)–Pitched one inning of relief on Tuesday night giving up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one batter. He threw 25 pitches in the appearance forcing two ground ball outs to go along with his strikeout. (06/27/12)

San Francisco Giants
(CL) Santiago Casilla (R)–Recorded his 21st save of the season on Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. Casilla has faltered lately, so it was nice to see him bounce back in this outing. (06/27/12)
(SU) Sergio Romo (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday giving up one walk while striking out three batters. With this appearance Romo lowered his earned-run average to 0.89 on the season. (06/24/12)
(MR) Javier Lopez (L)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Saturday after walking the only batter he faced in the ninth inning. He was the third pitcher used in the inning, and couldn’t record the final out to lick up the save. (06/24/12)

St. Louis Cardinals

(SU) Mitchell Boggs (R)–Picked up his 11th hold of the season on Tuesday after pitching 0.2 innings of relief. He gave up one hit in the appearance on seven pitches thrown with five going over for strikes. (06/27/12)
(MR) Eduardo Sanchez (R)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Monday night surrendering two runs on three walks. Sanchez has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely have off on Tuesday. (06/26/12)

Washington Nationals
(CL) Tyler Clippard (R)–Recorded his 12th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. He struck out one batter in the outing and lowered his earned-run average to 1.95 on the season. (06/24/12)
