Orioles - Brian Roberts-2B

  Orioles     Brian Roberts-2B
  Mar 14, 2012  11:35 am EST

Brian Roberts endured another setback as he rehabs from a herniated disk in his back. Days after the Orioles second baseman was prescribed with a new medication to help reduce the inflammation in his back -- as well as to prevent stomach-virus-like symptoms his previous medication was causing him -- Roberts is headed to Baltimore to see back specialist Dr. Lee Riley of John Hopkins Hospital. An epidural is not definite for the 32-year-old. Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail had yet to comment before the team's game against the Phillies in Sarasota, Fla., on Sunday. Roberts began experiencing nagging back spasms during his offseason workouts at the Athletes' Performance Institute in Arizona and was originally misdiagnosed with kidney stones before doctors found the herniated disk a week later. Prior to the illness the first medication was causing him, Roberts had been progressing nicely from his injury. The former All-Star hadn't seen any game action, but was a full-go in the Orioles' practices, even taking full-fledged swings in batting practice.

Value:  Value is based on a standard score calculation, where 0.0 is the average for your league's top players (based on your settings). As a general guideline, a value of 2.0 and above for an individual category is very good, -2.0 and below, really bad.
Rankings:  These Values are assigned to each Player, and they show how easy or hard it is to perform in a certain category against them. For instance, A Player may have an Ease Ranking of 2.50 for the HR Category, meaning they're very easy to hit HR's against.
