Magic are one of several teams to express an interest in Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay, reports Bill Ingram of HOOPSWORLD. Ingram cites Magic guard J.J. Redick as one "interesting name" that's come up as they've conducted that search.
Gay's value could jump a bit if traded to Orlando, but for now a trade is nothing but rumor. As a member of the Grizzles this week, Gay could very well find the sledding tough, as Memphis faces the Clippers, Spurs, and Bulls in the next seven days. Those three teams have defenses that rank toward the top of the league in FG% against and excel at clogging the paint. If Gay is forced to take jump shots, his value is a shot in the dark. Gay has missed 20 of his last 27 3PA and has never been a reliable shooter from distance.
