Jim Leyland and third-base coach Gene Lamont were ejected in the third inning of Monday’s game against the Boston Red Sox. Leyland was upset over a call that allowed Boston’s Mike Aviles to stay at the plate in the second. Aviles appeared to strike out for the final out, but it was ruled a foul tip that bounced before it was gloved by catcher Gerald Laird; replays showed it was not tipped and did not bounce.
