Victor Martinez is on track to be the designated hitter for the Detroit Tigers next season. The Tigers will do everything they can to make sure he remains on track to do so. Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said Martinez will not play in the World Baseball Classic, which will be held March 2-17. Players who play in the WBC leave their major-league teams temporarily during spring training to do so.
