- Nick Masset said he will try to throw this week, see how his arm responds.
- Sean Marshall recorded a one out save Monday for the Reds. Aroldis Chapman was unavailable after pitching five out of the last six games.
- Cincinnati Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman was arrested after he was caught driving 93 m.p.h. in Grove City early Monday, police said. Police said Chapman, 24, was pulled over after he was recorded speeding about 12:42 a.m. Monday. Chapman was arrested after the officer dicovered he had a suspended Kentucky driver's license, according to a police report. Chapman was cited for speeding and driving under suspension. He was released after posting bond. He is expected to appear in court on June 6.
- Scott Rolen is still in the therapy stage. He hasn't resumed swinging a bat yet and he got a cortisone shot.
- Updated: According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Aroldis Chapman is presumed to be the Reds' new closer after manager Dusty Baker said Sunday that he doesn't want to resort to a bullpen-by-committee and that Chapman is his "No. 1 candidate" to close. Baker hinted of the move after Saturday night's game at the Yankees, when he had to turn to Jose Arredondo for the final two outs following a near meltdown by then-closer Sean Marshall.
- Update: Aroldis Chapman got his first save of the season Sunday. The Reds have officially named him there closer.
